Sam Peezy -Producer
Sam Peezy - Producer, Songwriter, Engineer
Hailing from the college town of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and currently residing on the outskirts of Atlanta, Georgia, Sam Peezy’s sound has been a long time coming…Sam Peezy, formerly known as Sam Addams, has been in the music business since 2000, since inking his first deal with EightWays Entertainment, constructing beats for the legendary Southern Hip Hop group 8Ball and MJG. It was after a stint with the group that Sam Peezy would become a staple on the beat battle scene, winning several internationally renowned beat battles in Atlanta, Ga., Tallahassee, Fla., and Charlotte, NC.
Quietly and consistently the best at what I do
More about Sam Peezy
He would parlay these victories into opportunities to produce for regional heavyweights such as Willie Joe, Jackie Chain, and more. After flirting with several more record and production companies in the summer of 2010, Sam would meet bass music legend Kelvin “K Chill” Harris, who currently serves as head of A&R operations for Krazy Swag Entertainment, an independent record company distributed through Universal Music Group Distribution. It was this chance meeting that Sam would meet legendary producer/artist Enrique”Tetraz” Dent, CEO of Krazy Swag. Tetraz then offered the position of head producer to Sam, relinquishing all production duties himself. Sam Peezy’s first project with Krazy Swag would be the Bass Superstars project, which was the formation of a supergroup of bass music legends, including Kilo Ali, Raheem The Dream, Thrill da Playa of 69 Boys, Daddy Black of 95 South, Uncle Head and Kue Dog of SplackPack, 12 Gauge, Dis n Dat, DJ Taz, and MC Shy D. The production on the project was heralded as groundbreaking. However, it was not until Sam would write and perform the hook on the Bass Superstars’ single, “Up,” that he would begin to be recognized for his artistic depth as well. That chorus would lead to Tetraz’ decision to allow Sam to release “Boughetto,” an eight-song opus of unabashed lyricism and beat artisanship mastery. The EP, while critically acclaimed, would be received with a lukewarm response from the record-buying public. Eager to prove his worth as an artist, Sam returned to the studio to work on his second EP, “Bruce Leeroy,” and after receiving more critical acclaim on his leadoff single from the project, “Up,” the project would later be shelved due to complications within the label. It was then Sam Peezy decided to take matters into his own hands. Armed with nothing but a few catchy hooks,
Sam returned to the legendary Woodshed Studios in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to create his current masterpiece, “Black Label.” After shooting and releasing the video for the lead single from “Black Label,” bearing the same title, Sam Peezy’s infectious hooks and melodic yet gutter tracks began to virally infect the internet to the tune of over 225k views on Sam’s YouTube channel, which includes the official video for “Black Label (They Want That Peezy),” as well as leaks from the “Black Label” mixtape such as “I Got It,” “One Million,” and “I Get So Blowed.”
After taking a hiatus to produce for two Krazy Swag signees, K.D. Mr. MidGrade and Eway Paperboy, Sam has returned to his own V.A. Studios to work on music that defies classification. He is currently in the midst of working on the "Electronica" series of albums. "Electronica 1.1" would be released first and saw marginal success. Some of the music from 1.1 can be heard on a music video show in Alabama. Sam's latest release "Electronica v0.5 - The Prequel" has been met with critical acclaim. The mostly instrumental offering has people comparing Sam's sound to that of West Coast avant-garde artist Dam-Funk.
The latest achievement, which is by far the biggest of Sam’s career, is the success of the record “I Got Angels,” which has proven to be the perfect union of artist and producer between multi-platinum artist Emcee N.I.C.E. and Sam Peezy. N.I.C.E., a legend in his own right having wrote and produced for artists such as Tupac and Nas, decided to tap Sam Peezy to help cultivate the positive hip-hop sound that is now dominating the Billboard charts. “I Got Angels” as of press time, has been the number one digital hot song sales-wise for six consecutive weeks, and the album “Praise,” which was almost completely produced by Sam Peezy, is currently number two on the Billboard Top Gospel Album Charts, after a three week run at number one. With the successful run of this album being FAR from over, we can only expect to hear a LOT more from Emcee N.I.C.E. and Sam Peezy. Sam is currently part of the potent production staff at CSP Music Group, a music company designed to help independent artists. That roster includes She'kepere, D.J. Toomp, Brandon “B.A.M.” Hodge and more.
